Equipment required: - Windows PC with a WiFi card. A typical laptop will be sufficient. - An SSH application installed on the Windows PC. These instructions assume you will be using PuTTY, available at http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html. - USB flash drive formatted as FAT or FAT32. - Patience. Steps to install myMix Control on a Guruplug Server Plug Computer: 1. Copy install.sh and install.tgz on to the USB flash drive. The files must be copied to the root of the drive. 2. Plug the USB stick into the Plug Computer. 3. Apply power to the Plug Computer. 4. Wait for the flashing light on top of the Plug Computer. This may take as long as 4 minutes. 5. Connect the Windows PC's wireless to the Plug Computer's WiFi SSID. The SSID should look like dream-uAP-xxxx, where xxxx is 4 hexadecimal digits. If Windows asks to confirm that you want to connect to an unsecured wireless network, select Yes. 6. Wait for the connection to complete. On Windows 7, a dialog box asking what type of network it is (Home/Work/Public) will appear when the connection is complete. Select Public. 7. Open PuTTY. 8. Enter 192.168.1.1 in the Host Name (or IP address) box. 9. Click the Open button. If an SSH key warning appears, click Accept. 10. At the "login as:" prompt, enter root. 11. At the password prompt, enter nosoup4u. This prompt can sometimes take 20-30 seconds to appear. 12. At the command prompt, enter 'bash /media/usb/install.sh' (without the quotes) and press enter. 13. The install script should start, and ask you to confirm that you really want to install the myMix Control application. Press the y key to confirm. The script should run to completion and display a success message. 13a. At some point during the installation, you may be prompted to restart services. Press enter to accept this prompt. 13b. If you encounter a failure related to configuring libkrb53, return to step 12. (this should not occur more than once) 14. Reboot the Plug Computer. 15. After the Plug Computer has finished rebooting and the light on top is flashing again, re-connect the Windows PC's wireless to the Plug Computer's SSID. 16. Open a web browser and go to 192.168.1.1. You should see the myMix Control application login screen. 17. Enter admin in the Username box and password in the Password box, and click Login. 18. You should now be able to use the application.
